100th Birthday party at Histon Manor
We were delighted to offer the use of our house to Mary Walker and her family as a location for her 100th birthday party at our house last weekend, which was our mini birthday present to Mary and her family.
I have got to know Mary over the last few years as we both moved into the village at the same time. Our paths cross often at local events and local clubs and societies. Mary is an inspiration to all - she keeps me on my toes with her acuity, wit, wonderful conversation and great sense of fun. A fabulous new friend and I feel very fortunate to have got to know her.
Mary had a week to remember kicking off her 100th celebrations the weekend before with an event held by Cambridge Austin 7 and Vintage Car club, of which she is president. This was then followed by celebration after celebration in the village. Tea and cake was served at St Andrew’s Fellowship, then again at The Day Centre, a family lunch took place on her actual birthday and a card signed by the King and Camilla arrived on the day!
The sun shone for the party last Saturday which was attended by family members and friends, which was expertly organised and hosted by Mary’s family. Seven Austin 7s arrived and parked up in front of the house for all to admire and champagne was served followed by a wonderful buffet lunch provided by www.boxedevents.co.uk.
Mary’s friend and world renown opera singer, Nicky Spence, was zoomed in from Italy at 3pm and Nicky gave Mary a wonderful rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ just before going on stage! Mary was a tad speechless to say the least!
Here’s to lots more fun in the future Mary.
Much love
Katherine xx
