Open Gardens June 2024- The sunshine came !
Sunday, 16 June 2024 saw seventeen gorgeous gardens across Histon & Impington open up to visitors. Over half featured musical entertainment, several offered tea and cake, and every garden promised a warm welcome. Streams of visitors wandered through the village, with Histon Manor among the gardens. It was brilliantly organised by the Histon and Impington Open Gardens team.
Despite concerns over terrible weather during the week leading up to the event, the day turned out beautifully, with sunshine breaking through. Well over a thousand residents and visitors from surrounding villages enjoyed a relaxing day in the gardens. My parents ran a fab bookstall, the WI organised teas in the East Garden and made a record-breaking sum from teas, cakes, and scones. We are also super grateful to have Morrison Music generously give up their time to provide some fabulous entertainment for our tea guests.
I would like to thank all the volunteers and the committee for making it such a lovely event, and for the kind and encouraging comments from our visitors. The best part of the event is seeing so many people bump into each other and have a chat, reconnecting with those they might not see as often as they’d like. We also had a greater number of little ones attending this year, bringing the gardens to life in such a fun way.
We were proud to have helped raise just over £2,000 towards the total through our bookstall, the WI teas, and programme sales on the day. In total the event raised a fantastic £9000.00. It was a privilege to be involved.
