Holiday at Home Launch at Histon Manor - July 2022

What a great afternoon it was, showcasing Histon and Impington’s Community spirit at its very best. The weather was kind to us with the heat cooling off just in time. We were delighted to be able to host the launch of this great initiative and were very proud to welcome over 75 residents for tea and cake. Residents sat back in the shade under a large marquee, situated on the old tennis court lawn, to watch a wonderful dance display given by pupils from the Brook Primary and songs from their school choir. A team of volunteers served hundreds of scones, cakes and cups of tea whilst guests chatted. Many bumped into friends they hadn’t seen for years and with such a wide range of people attending it was no surprise that new friendships started, with many making plans to see people again at the next event or before.

Thank you to Gin House Flowers, who generously provided the table decorations and to the long list of those who baked, volunteered on the day, drove the minibus, set up, took down, made the tea, helped in the planning. The list just goes on and on…Such a team effort. It was all master minded by Helen Blake, who heads up the Holiday at Home committee.

Following this successful launch, a series of activities for people over 60 living in the villages will be held over two or three days several times a year. Information about these events will be sent out via the Holiday at Home mailing list. To be added to the list, contact: Helen Blake. helen@hifriends.org.uk; 07394 173430
